Frequently Asked Questions

What impact will it have on our power bill by switching to energy efficient windows?

Starting in 1992, with help from ENERGY STAR®, American families and businesses saved $297 billion on utility bills and prevented more than 2.1 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions by 2013. All Pella® products meet or exceed ENERGY STAR certification in all 50 states and most of Canada. How will this affect you? Not only could you see a drop to your heating and cooling charges, you will help protect the environment.

How much will my replacement door or replacement windows project cost?

Our windows and doors are specifically designed and custom-made for your home, meaning no two projects are alike. Our wide range of products make it difficult to discuss pricing without first considering your needs, wants and the project results you envision. Due to this nature, we find it helpful to send out a Pella sales representative who can provide you with a quoted project price upon seeing the project site itself. To accelerate the process, your Pella® sales representative is prepared with a computer and a portable printer so that they can give you all the quote information you’ll need—just as soon as the sales representative has a chance to consider the requirements of the task and brings them to life with your vision.

In addition to offering a wide range of high-grade products to select from, we also have a generous offering of payment and finance options. Pella is uniquely-suited to offer you great window and door products at affordable prices, giving you a chance to make the home improvements you want to while building great value into your Westerly area home while you do it.

What should I use to clean my glass windows?

We advise that you use a prepackaged vinegar-based cleaning solution or use an ammonia-free glass cleaner such as Windex or Sparkle. Or you can make your own with one part vinegar to ten parts water. Apply the mix to a soft, clean microfiber cloth or paper towel. We do not suggest using glass cleaners that are ammonia- or alcohol-based as they could produce streaks or create a film that magnetizes moisture and dust.

Do Pella® employees actually install your replacement windows and doors?

Pella uses contract installers who are certified to install Pella products. They must complete a thorough set of training courses so that your windows and doors are correctly installed and meet Pella’s strict warranty criteria. We look for the best Westerly-local people and recruit them to install our projects. Before they can be hired, Pella requires them to pass a drug test and background check. Our installers are fully protected by liability and workers compensation insurance. In addition to Pella product warranties, your installation is also covered for 10 years under the installation limited warranty and service agreement.

What's different about buying replacement windows and doors from local Pella® showrooms versus buying from retailers like Lowe’s?

Your Westerly Pella branch offers services and support that “big box” stores can’t provide. Our staff is made up of professionals whose expertise is in selling, installing, and servicing Pella Windows & Doors. Using a dedicated Pella sales team, project manager, local service technicians, and expert installers means that your renovation will have the expertise of our whole team. We like to use the term “single source accountability”, meaning that there’s no one to chase down regarding a product, installation, or warranty issue. Simply contact our office, your sales representative, or our project manager with any questions or concerns you may have and we will get to work resolving the issue.

Why is Pella® the right choice for my home?

There are many reasons why Westerly homeowners select Pella for their replacement window and door needs. Pella is a privately owned, professionally managed company founded in 1925. All of our high quality windows and doors are manufactured with attention to detail and serviced by Pella’s certified Direct Sales Network. Unlike many of our competitors who sell exclusively through retailers, Pella has dedicated windows & door design centers across the United States and Canada. This unique way of conducting business gives the homeowners in Westerly a convenient and personal experience with the backing of a local to Westerly, Pella-certified team. Whether you are contemplating the beauty of wood, the strength of fiberglass, or the low maintenance of vinyl—Pella has a superior quality, energy efficient and durable solution.
