With fall weather just around the corner, it’s a good time to set up the outside of your home with fall decorations. Sprucing up your replacement windows and doors with some unique decorations can be the perfect way to start off the season and get in the mood for scarves, sweaters and pumpkin spice lattes.
Enhance your curb appeal this season with these fun décor projects that are easy, unique and on-trend:
Project #1: Corn Husk Garland
This decoration will add fantastic curb appeal to your home’s windows or doors, depending on where you want to hang the garland. Wherever you end up putting it, all this project takes is a few easy steps: decide how long you want the rope (outlining your windows or door) with a few extra inches to get a droopy effect, and stick corn husks to the rope with a hot glue gun. Display your new garland to highlight your home access points!
Project #2: Door Wreath
Take the beautiful fall colors and transform them into a DIY wreath to put on your door. You’ll need a wooden stick wreath, burlap, artificial fall foliage, scissors and a glue gun. Here is the process: Cut the burlap into four 4x4-inch squares. Then, fold and glue the burlap pieces along the sides of the wreath while gluing foliage in between the burlap pieces.
Project #3: Welcome Sign
Add warmth to your home this fall with a blackboard “Welcome” or “Happy Fall” sign outside of your door. Remind passersby what the season is really about and draw attention toward your festive fall entryway.
While adding fun DIY projects to the outside of your home is a simple way to get into the season spirit, make sure to prepare your replacement doors and windows for the colder weather, too. They will look fantastic, but if your doors and windows are old or unprepared for the upcoming winter weather, they could let in cold drafts and leave you feeling chilly in the upcoming months.
